144 pages | Holyoake Press (October 2008) | ISBN: 1443775487 | PDF | 7.1 MB This is one of the leading books for artists in understanding the anatomy of the human being. It emphasizes planes, light and dark and what lies underneath the skin. It is not for any scientific study, and it doesn’t go into great detail as to the exact purpose of muscles. It appears to be a fixed law that the contraction of a muscle shall be toward its centre, therefore, the subject for mechanism on each occasion is so to modify the figure, and adjust the position of the muscle as to produce the motion required agreeably with this law. Children and Pollution: Why Scientists Disagree
How does pollution impact our daily quality of life? What are the effects of pollution on children’s development? Why do industry and environmental experts disagree about what levels of pollutants are safe? In this clearly written book, Moore traces the debates around five key pollutants—lead, mercury, noise, pesticides, and dioxins and PCBs—and provides an overview of the history of each pollutant, basic research findings, and the scientific and regulatory controversies surrounding it. Moore focuses, in particular, on the impact of these pollutants on children’s psychological development–their intellectual functioning, behavior, and emotional states, and provides practical strategies for avoiding exposure to environmental contaminants in a final chapter entitled "Protect Your Family, Protect Our Planet." Only by understanding the impact of pollution can we prevent future negative effects on quality of life and even pollution disasters from occurring. This volume will be of great interest to child health care experts, public health officials, regulators, health and environmental advocates, and parents.
Coping When a Grandparent Has Alzheimer’s Disease
Given Harvard Medical School’s projection that almost half of the people over 85 are likely to have Alzheimer’s disease, a very large number of children will experience having an afflicted grandparent. Wilkinson discusses the disease in its three stages of development, describing all the nuances of patient behavior–accusations, shadowing, hoarding, wandering, and sometimes fear of water. More important, she demonstrates how this affects young people and what they can do to better their situations. Throughout the book, richly descriptive personal narratives are skillfully interspersed. The chapters on nursing homes and dealing with death are very helpful and applicable to an even broader audience. While Elaine Landau’s Alzheimer’s Disease (Watts, 1987) is a good, basic reference, Wilkinson’s offering is geared more to young people’s needs. There are good discussions about what it can be like to share a home or even a room with an Alzheimer’s victim and how to explain odd behavior to friends. The coping strategies explored are excellent. Wilkinson’s language is simple, yet elegantly effective. Much information is artfully interwoven to make a flowing, unified whole, leaving readers with some sense of preparedness and realistic hope for themselves. Download Link

[request_ebook] Reading the Body: Ohashi’s Book of Oriental Diagnosis
To the reviewer who doesn’t believe, Chinese Medicine has been around for thousands of years & people are realizing it has many truths for it, especially for long-term diseases since they are due to the body being unable to deal with poor diet, environmental toxins, poor sleep habits, etc.
Many studies have proven it’s not fat, sugar in a diet that kills you, it’s the TYPE of fat or sugar. Many pacific islanders, Asians, Eskimos live on high fat diet but never had cancer or heart disease… not until we came around & introduced CANDY BARS… processed chemical-laded baked goods…
Has Western medicine cured cancer or heart disease? Even they admit most has to do these factors, but they make no money telling you to change your diet & no body wants to bother, they just want a pill that masks the body’s attempts to let you know something is wrong before it’s too late. Every day more people are finally getting off processed artificial foods and toxins because finally enough people know that is the culprit and spreading the word out verbally and their their good health & good moods.
Many studies have proven genetics does play 1/3 of your chance of getting cancer/diabetes, heart disease, but that leaves 2/3 up to your own lifestyle choices. If you have good health, you mind will work better, you daily mood will be better, therefore better work, more quality friends, and so on like dominoes for a happy, satisfying life.
